Kashmir... Where Nature Paints a Thousand Pictures

My trip to Kashmir was truly remarkable. Everywhere I looked, there was the natural beauty that took my breath away - from the snow-capped mountains to the serene lakes and rivers. One of the highlights of the trip was definitely the shikara ride on Dal Lake, where I was able to take in the stunning scenery while sipping on Kashmiri chai.

The people.... I can't say enough about how friendly and welcoming everyone was especially the owner of the houseboat who made the experience extremely homely with his warm welcome and home-cooked Kashmiri meals - from the spicy Rogan Josh to the delicious Gushtaba and the mouth-watering and yet so simple local apple gravy,

Beautiful valleys with its lush greenery and sparkling streams, was a perfect spot for a picnic and some fun. I also had the opportunity to go for a quad bike ride which was an adventure through the winding roads that offered breathtaking views at every turn. Riding through the valleys and over the hills, taking in the crisp mountain air and feeling the sun on my face made me feel exhilarated.

I visited the Hasratbal mosque, an important religious site, where I learned about the local culture and traditions. And the ancient Awantipura ruins were absolutely fascinating, with intricate carvings and architecture that told a story of the region's rich history. The Shalimar Gardens were definitely a highlight of the trip - a Mughal Era masterpiece with beautifully landscaped lawns. Plus, the view from the Shankaracharya temple, situated on a hilltop overlooking the city, was simply breathtaking. Of course, I couldn't leave Kashmir without visiting an apple orchard. It was so much fun picking apples straight from the trees ourselves, and the Chinaar trees looked magnificent and totally fascinating every time we saw them. Overall, my Kashmir tour was full of wonder, adventure, and new experiences that I will treasure forever.
